Plot Summary of The Last Good Season
"    Michael Shapiro chronicles the 1956 season of the Brooklyn Dodgers, their final season before moving to Los Angeles, against the background of Walter O'Malley's attempt to get a new stadium built in Brooklyn. While the Dodgers were battling the Braves for the pennant, O'Malley was battling with the politically powerful Robert Moses over a site for the new stadium. Although the Dodgers' star players, Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, Carl Furillo and Carl Erskine, had gotten older, they were still able to eke out the championship at the very end of the season. O'Malley, on the other hand, was not so successful in his battle with Robert Moses. "
