Plot Summary of The Kalahari Typing School for Men
"The Number 1 Ladies' Detective Agency has got competition and Mma Ramotswe and her assistant/secretary Mma Makutsi are both worried about the future of the agency, especially after their competitor arrogantly dismisses them as amateurs in a newspaper interview. Mma Makutsi starts a typing school for men in order to supplement her income, and meets a man. Meanwhile, Mma Ramotswe takes a case where she is asked to track down some people for a man who wants to make restitution for bad things he did to them a long time ago. She also investigates if a husband is cheating on his wife, and makes a disturbing discovery. Both cases present their own unique difficulties, but with her common sense and philosophical way of looking at things, Mma Ramotswe solves both cases to the satisfaction of nearly all involved. As with the other books in the series, this is a character study and a portrait of a culture and a country, rather than a typical detective story.
