Heartland was built to help the hurt and scars of the past, and be a safe haven for abused horses, but it is more than the horses that need a place to let their hurts go, and learn to trust again. " The Heartland Ranch is run by Amy, her sister Lou, and their Grandpa Jack. At Heartland horses and ponies are healed physically and emotionally. The series has focused on horses being healed but as the books continue more attention is centered on the human relationships which are healing and growing as well.
Amy is training a newborn filly named Daybreak. Daybreak is headstrong and difficult to work with. When Daybreak becomes sick Amy must use all of her skills to save her.
At the same time Amy is struggling through the approaching holidays without her mom, high school friendships, and her new found feelings for Ty. Grandpa is in the hospital with pneumonia and Lou has traveled to England is seach of their father."

"This book is about a 15 year old girl named Amy Fleming. This book is by Lauren Brooke. It is the 6th book in the Heartland series. Amy's mother died and Amy can't face the though of having a Thanksgiving and Christmas without her mom. Her Grandpa has a bad cough and it develops into pneumonia. He has go to the hospital. Lou, Amy's sister is flying to Engalnd in search of their estranged father. Amy is left at home with Heartland's two stable hands, Ty Baldwin and Ben Stillman and Marnie, Lou's best friend. Amy begins to lose hope when Grandpa gets worse. Meanwhile she also went to the Grant's party where she hurt Matt's feeling because she said she didn't want to go out with him. She also shared a dance with Ty. Amy is also beginning to have feelings for him which she can't explain. Ty has always been like a brother to Amy. "
