| Plot Summary of Autobiography |
"Darwin's Autobiography written ostensibly for his children describes his early schooling and interest in collecting things even as a child, and his years studying at Edinburgh and later at Cambridge (years he considered not very usefully spent, except for his continuing collections). He describes how he signed on to work as an unpaid naturalist on the voyage of the Beagle. He talks about the influence of his father on his life as well as his earlier naturalist ancestor, Erasmus Darwin. At the end he talks about some of his writings. "
