Working a nasty case, San Francisco Assistant District Attorney Cara O'Connor takes the threats to her two beloved children quite seriously. Thus Philadelphia based FBI Agent Summer Mulcahey becomes the nanny to Cara's kids. Cara's fiancé Senator Winslow also takes the safety of the children Sophy and Audra to heart and quietly arranges for a friend, US Navy SEAL Gabe Morgan to go undercover at the Carmel, California estate as a groundskeeper.
Summer and Gabe realize the other is more than they first seem and exchange résumés. An attempt to hurt the O'Connors fails, but a different type of threat surfaces. Someone has evidence that Cara years ago went to Los Reyes Clinic for an abortion that could derail a presidential run by the senator. As Summer and Gabe fall in love, they remain steadfast that the job is to keep Cara's daughters and their mom safe.
Though the Senator and the ADA seem more like idealistic icons than humans, fans will welcome this thrilling undercover romance. The story line is fast-paced and filled with action as Summer and Gabe show they know their stuff and adhere to the assignment as they protect the children though they fall in love, a feeling neither desires yet both welcomes.
