Plot Summary of Grievous Sin
"Peter, the main detective, came to the hospital to be with his wife while she had their baby, she was losing a lot of blood, so he had to leave the room. During the night, someone kidnapped one of the babies from the nursery. The head nurse, Marie Bellson, was on duty and the hospital was way understaffed. Peter's oldest daughter (Cindy) was there most of the night, so she was questioned as to who came in and out, and if the nurses were under suspicion and which ones. Marie Bellson was always giving orders, and seemed put off that Cindy was there.

They found blood in the empty parking space of Marie, so they suspected foul play, that she may have been forced out of the hospital with the baby and then fought at the end. About 8 hours later there was a call that came in about a car that went over the cliff and was still on fire. Pete goes to the scene, and they find a body in the front seat with the same kind of ring that Marie Bellson had on. As the story progresses and they investigate her house, they see that she does not have any mail from family or friends except for one Christmas card from 2 years previous from a Tandy Roberts. They look into her past and find that she was a nurse at the local hospitals with a false nurses license and find her in a gym, not as old coworkers describe her but as a very athletic girl, not obese and pathetic."
