| Plot Summary of Having the Best Man's Baby |
"Ry Collier is back in town for the wedding of his college roommate Bill to his love Susan. Sally “Jean” is the matron of honor of her best friend Susan's wedding. When she walks into the restaurant for the “get together” for all the wedding party to meet she is stunned to see Ry. 15 years ago Ry had cancelled on her hours before taking her to the prom with no explanation. She has lived with the pain of her best friend emotionally hurting her for 15 years, one of the things that has lead her to believe that she is relationship poison.
Ry is stunned to see a gorgeous woman who seems familiar to him. When he finally finds out that Jean is his best friend from all those years ago he sees the opportunity to finally relieve himself of the guilt of standing her up all those years ago.
Both are continually attracted to each other, which is consummated the night after the rehearsal dinner. But, in their haste they did not use all the precautions (protection) they should have. Now Jean finds herself pregnant and not sure how to tell Ry, as she is afraid that he will break her heart yet again.
At the same time the wedding is ramping up Jean's place of business is undergoing a work system evaluation to help them streamline their operations. Who should turn up the first day as the expert? None other than Ry, which makes for some tense moments as they are trying to not let work and personal life interfere with each other.
When Jean tells Ry she is pregnant he turns bitter and acts as if she is trying to trap him.
