| Plot Summary of Forever Amber |
"Sixteen year old Amber St. Clare is bored in her small, puritanical village in seventheenth century england. She is secretly delighted when the king is restored to the throne. When a group of young men come trough her village,
the beautiful Amber attracts the attention of Bruce.
While he thinks that their relationship is a mere flirtation, she sees it as a way out of her village and into the busy city of London. Amber convinces a reluctant Bruce to take her with him to London, where they live together for a while. Bruce eventually leaves a pregnant Amber in order to pursue his own goals. Amber uses her wits to rise in society. She
becomes and actress, a mistress to wealthy men, and even the mistress of the king himself.
All the while, the man she truely loves, Bruce, comes in and out of her life. Bruce is attracted to Amber but refuses to marry her because he doesn't love her. Amber's life is an epic journey through restoration England, as she pursues the one man she loves but can never have.
