Plot Summary of Dawn
"Dawn Longchamp always wondered why she looked different from her relatives. As a hopeful singer, she felt loved by her family, despite their dire poverty and the fact that they kept moving all around the country. Despite the troubles she faces in the private, expensive school she must attend where her father works, she concentrates on her singing and her budding romance with handsome Phillip Cutler.

But then things take a drastic turn. Her world crumbles when her beloved mother dies of tuberculosis. But that is just the beginning. One morning, Dawn is just about ready to feed her baby sister when there is a hard rap at the door, one that scares Dawn and which she vows will be in her nightmares for many a time to come. When her father opens it, there, standing right in the doorway, are police officers and the security man from the hospital her mother died in.

Dawn discovers that she was kidnapped as a child and is immediately whisked to her new home - Cutler's Cove. And Phillip Cutler is her brother.

Her grandmother immediately hates her guts and turns her into a maid at the hotel. And, despite being a brother to Dawn, Phillip can't help but think of his ex-girlfriend/now-sister in a romantic way. After Phillip betrays her in the worst way and Grandmother Cutler has tormented her a few times too many, Dawn knows there's more to her family than meets the eye.

She meets up with the old nurse from when she was a baby (who'd been there on the night of her kidnapping) and learns a shocking secret, not only about who one parent really is, but also about her kidnapping. "
