"The magnificent Oak Tree on the corner of 2nd and Windsor witnessed many events over the years. Whispered secrets and conversations. Friendships and romances have taken place under its branches.
Frederick and Carolyn experience an instant connection with each other. It was as if they had known each other their whole lives. While becoming best friends, Carolyn makes the playful suggestion that they practice marriage proposals underneath the tree. She feels that this will prepare them for the future when someone actually will propose or be proposed to.
The unthinkable happens in their little game. One of them actually is in love and reveals this to the other. When this is revealed they go their separate ways for three years.
After they renew their friendship, the proposing games begin again. Although this continues to be a game for one partner, as they continue to search for true love, the other must still hide their ever growing feelings deeply inside and be content
with the friendship that is offered.
This friendship lasts for many decades. Will these two ever find happiness with anyone else? Or will the timing finally be right with them to fall in love? "
