Nurse Dinah Lee needs a cure for a broken heart when her fiancé Woody Monroe fails to appear at their wedding ceremony. Woody's irate cousin Seth wants to find his useless relative because he lent him five thousand dollars for the wedding. Dinah thinks Seth's road show search is the elixir for her blues; she successfully begs Seth to let her accompany him because she needs to know why her betrothed dumped her after she pounds the crap out of Woody.
The avenging duo travels from Jacksonville to Oklahoma on the trail, but along the way pick up separately the hitchhiking Tripp and Bayou Addie, with the former armed and the latter on the lam. From Oklahoma to Spokane this foursome spend a series of wild dog nights seeking Woody, but as they enter the final leg, they owe the wanderer more than just a pounding because true love has blossomed during this crazy cross country trek.
Take IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT and place it inside the zaniness of IT'S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD and one will understand the jocular madcap road show of THE RIDE TO DINAH'S WEDDING. The story line is a series of running jokes driven together by love found on a lonely highway. Readers get a prejudicial taste of Woody mostly through his condemnation by a seething Seth and a dizzy Dinah. Ann Kline shows a delightful comedic touch that will send those readers who appreciate a lighthearted romp to go along for the wacky ride.
