Plot Summary of Corpse Candle
"Sir Hugh Corbett is Keeper of the King's Secret Seal.   When King Edward II has a problem of the kind in this book he sends his super sleuth to solve the crime. Abbott Stephen of St Martin's in the Marsh, a friend of the king, is found stabbed in his chamber. After Corbett arrives to investigate the killing several other deaths occur, they are bloody and the bodies are branded with the arms of a long dead robber baron. Sir Hugh matches the clues which, along with his two aides, place him in danger. The suspects are many and there could be more than one murderer. Gradually Sir Hugh, through careful sifting and logic, realises how the murders were committed, why they were committed and who committed them. "
