Plot Summary of The Diary of a Teenage Girl
"This is the diary of Minnie, a high school girl in 1970s San Francisco. Her mother lives a pathetic life of boyfriends and drugs, but expects Minnie and her younger sister to behave without any guidance or supervision. Minnie's lift spirals out of control after she loses her virginity to her mother's boyfriend. She ends up running away from home, getting kicked out of many schools, and doing lots of drugs. Meanwhile, no one notices that she is very intelligent and has developed a wonderful talent for drawing."
Judy Berman, Resident Scholar
