| Plot Summary of A Well Favored Gentleman |
"Ian Fairchild is a man with a spotted past: he is the self-declared bastard of Leslie Fairchild and, if rumor be true, of a selkie mother. He yearns for a place where he can call his own, and he has always desired Fionnaway manor, the home of his childhood, to be his. However, he can secure ownership only through marriage with the lady of the manor, Alanna McLeod. Alanna has warned him to leave the house at knifepoint during a dream magic that can only be conjured by witches. Equally attracted and bewitched by her beauty, Ian doubles his efforts at finding Alanna. However, dragging Alana to the altar proves to be difficult, since she is believed to have disappeared after being nearly raped by Leslie Fairchild and has not returned since.
Meanwhile, Ian was told that the local witch, who replaced the old witch about the same time Lady Alanna disappeared, might have information about the disappearance. Ian battles wits with the wily witch before she shows the true Alanna, and Ian must wield his legendary skill and charm to win the lady's hand, home, and heart.
