Near Wayland in South Georgia is the Olakimpa swamp home to the privately owned Nature's Refuge. When Chief Ranger Ken White is murdered owner Austen Barnette hires US Parks Ranger Adam Marshall, who has a powerful reputation for catching criminals, as the replacement.
Adam changes into his wolf persona to run the park at night, but notices a fire. When he investigates, he finds himself almost hypnotized. He manages to return to human form, but not before someone tries to kill him. The next morning he sees a woman wandering the park, but learns that Sara Watson is researching the local flora as part of an agreement between Barnette and Granville Pharmaceuticals. As Adam and Sara fall in love, they must combine their efforts to stop a deadly coven even as her witch powers enhance his werewolf abilities.
This werewolf sequel stars another Marshall that will excite readers as much as the previous Moon books did. The story line is fast-paced from the moment Adam goes wolf until the end (refuse to give it away even at the threat of a canine bite). Sara is a great character struggling to contain and hide her inner essence and powers behind a scientific façade. Harriet Klausner
