| Plot Summary of Once Upon a Dream |
"Robin Wise has spent the past year locked up in her house. Her mother, grandmother, great grandmother, etc. have been cursed to die freak accidents right before their 30th birthday. Robin reacts by developing agoraphobia, going out only to tend her rose garden.
Alex Simon has moved in next door. Having left England and a hard-to-please ex-fiance, he comes to Texas to be near his recently widowed sister. He is a college professor with many interests: fixing up old cars and fencing among his hobbies. His projects were an effort (unsuccessful) to please his mother. After his breakup, he has formed different standards on what makes a person "worthy."
Robin and Alex slowly come to trust one another and help each other deal with their issues. They survive a tornado and even manage to make their dog and cat get along. At night, they share dreams. In these dreams, they find the source of the curse on Robin's ancestor by relieving that life. These dreams also form a connection between Robin and Alex, allowing her to rush to his house (overcoming her fear and overturning the curse) to save his life (or at least prevent serious injury)."
