| Plot Summary of Prince of Dreams |
" Lady Emma Stokehurst is considered odd by society. She has a menagerie, is interested in animal rights, and refuses to eat meat; she is completely unlike the delicate ladies who slight her. She takes comfort in Adam Milbank, her secret suitor - secret because her father believes Milbank is a fortune hunter.
Prince Nikolas Angelovsky, a man with a shady past who is a distant cousin by marriage, has been fascinated by Emma since he met her as a child. Ruthlessly, he threatens Milbank and convinces Emma into becoming his wife.
Their lives together becomes difficult as Nikolas distances from Emma, afraid to fall in love, fearing his obssession with her. Nikolas's illegitimate son comes to live with them. Adam Milbank with his new heiress wife returns to torment them. Nikolas's and Emma's marriage becomes cold and strained.
In the middle of the novel, a painting of his ancestor causes Nikolas to faint, whirliing back to a past life. He relives his love with the past Emma. The obstacles they face is this life are life-and-death. Tragedy ends his (past) life; he returns to the present a more sensitive man, determined to be a good husband and father. He proves himself to Emma gaining her love and trust and they deal together with all of their problems."
