| Plot Summary of Figure in the Distance |
"This novel, the first by Otto de Kat, enters into the mind of the chief character, the "narrator." and provides deep insight into the narrator's mind. Otto de Kat studied theology and writes poems. These skills show up in his novel through the deep penetration into the narrator's thinking and by the beautiful, almost poetic, manner Kat uses to describe the narrator. There is no plot to this story, no conflict, no antagonist. The narrator simply reflects on his life and on the pressing things in his mind. This novel is a very good look into the psychological depths of the main character.
