Plot Summary of A Dangerous Seduction

Harlequin Historical, Aug 2003

In 1816 Cornwall, England Morgan Pendaris accompanied by his nephew Jeremy feels proud that his two-decade-old endeavor to enact vengeance has succeeded. Nineteen years ago, Hayne stole everything including Merdinn estate from Morgan's father. Now Morgan has regained possession of the estate from the son of the thief Cordell Hayne. Morgan will know the job is complete once he tosses Mrs. Hayne out of the house.

However, upon seeing the Mrs. he is shocked because she is young, pretty, and far from haughty, going so far as providing a warm friendly welcome to Jeremy. Cordell's wife Eulalia explains that in residence are she, her grandma, and two servants while her husband bets on a boat race with a vessel he no longer owns and assets he no longer has. He explains the situation and she says she and her grandma will leave in three days. When Cordell's ship crashes and he apparently dies, Morgan invites the widow and her relative to stay. As they fall in love, someone sabotages his shipping company going so far as to commit murder.

A DANGEROUS SEDUCTION is an enjoyable Regency romantic suspense that stars a delightful lead couple and a fine support cast especially those in residence at Merdinn. The tale has been often told (Monte Cristo) yet feels fresh due to the strong characterizations. Why Cordell “bought” a half-gypsy wife seems off kilter especial since he ignores her, but readers will still fully appreciate this solid story as Eulalia resuscitates Morgan's heart, beating for the first time since he was displaced at fifteen.
