"A defrocked medical doctor discovers that blood is a very valuable commodity. When used to bill the Medicaid system for bogus lab tests, it is worth millions of dollars to him. Covertly taking control of a number of small, independently owned clinical laboratories in the South Bronx he gradually expands his criminal enterprise. A crucial element to the fraud is a blood supply. To meet this need blood is purchased from street people and drug addicts. The fraud runs as planned until one of the blood donors is drawn too many times in too short a time and is hospitalized. State fraud investigators are called in and the doctor is forced to fight for his survival. He will stop at nothing to keep out of prison, including murder."
