Plot Summary of The Gentleman's Garden
"A story of a young officer's wife travelling to Australia with her husband to the colony of New South Wales in 1814. She is so horrified by conditions that she cultivates an English garden with the help of her convict manservant, Daniel. Her husband's illness and her sense of having been betrayed by him harden her character. Gives a very good account of conditions and historical characters of that time. A surprise ending!"
