| Plot Summary of The Sanctuary Sparrrow |
" Usually, life around the Abbey of St. Peter and St. Paul in Shrewsbury is on the
tranquil--but busy--side. But not for long, it seems. As Brother Cadfael, the former
Crusader now turned Benedictine monk, goes about his work, his tranquillity is disturbed
by lots of noise! Chased by a mob intent upon lynching him, a young man has scrambled
into the church, seeking sanctuary. He is accused of murder and robbery, no small charge.
But Brother Cadfael, ever the visionary, senses that this young man Liliwin is innocent and
begins yet another challenge to protect the wrongly accused and to see that justice is
served. Young Liliwin, orphaned at birth and reared by unscrupulous people, has his own
agenda, however. Brother Cadfael, along with hhis friend Sheriff Hugh Beringer, have
their work cut out for them, but justice is finally served (a trademark of the Ellis Peters'
books!). "
