| Plot Summary of The Drake Motel |
"About sixteen miles outside of Ames, Iowa sits the township of Colton. Colton gained recognition (though not growth) in the fifties when multi-millionaire Simon Marsh made it his home. Almost fifty years later, only a single Marsh remains in the area. The youngest Marsh, Fulton, runs the perpetually empty Drake Motel.
With more employees than guests and an endless stretch of free time in front of them, Fulton and his longtime friend Harry are forced to drum up their own excitement via a kidnapped cat, a mystical fortune cookie, extra sensory perception, witchcraft, an overzealous preacher, a less-than-brilliant cop, several well-timed explosions, an unusual trip to Las Vegas and a bout of terrifying dreams involving the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter and Fulton's dead father.
All in all, a truly strange year at the Drake Motel."
David B. Grelck, Resident Scholar
