Plot Summary of The Catfish Tangle
"THE CATFISH TANGLE has been published in 1951.

A Deputy Sheriff from a little Louisiana town, while fishing in the bayou, meets a young woman who hides with her husband in a cabin near the lake. Both fall madly in love and soon the husband, an escaped convict, is killed by Jack. Both lovers hope to catch a flight to California but, first, Jack will have to come back into the bayous in order to remove an important clue. For two days, Jack wanders through the swamps with his former colleagues behind him, trying to kill him."
