Plot Summary of Sleeping Beauty
"

LTD Books, Jan 2003, 74 pp.
ISBN 1554160983

A young woman leaves Canada and arrives by plane to an unnamed village in a country where everyone refers to everyone as citizen. Ann is looking for her grandfather but nobody seems to have heard of him and she is forced to confess that he committed suicide. She wants to know why he left her alone in the world and while she continues on her quest, Ann notices some very odd things about the village.

She can't find a way out of there because all roads lead back to the central source. One resident is overheard saying that nobody has left the village in five generations. The village is infested with spiders that leave a stench in every building in the town. Inanimate objects talk to their owners and Ann discovers a cat named Sam that actually talks to her. She feels as if she is living in a nightmare and her greatest wish is that she would wake up.

SLEEPING BEAUTY is a series of vignettes, one scene seamlessly slipping into another, some featuring Ann and others showcasing inhabitants of the town. There is a growing sense of uneasiness as one fact after another is revealed and at times, readers will feel as if something is crawling on their skin. Fans of Bentley Little will appreciate David Holiday's horror tale.
