| Plot Summary of Exiles' Return - The Ghatti's Tale 3 |
"Doyce is pregnant, and is assigned the light duty of writing a book on the 200 history of the Seekers Veritas. Khar'pern, her bondmate ghatta (large cat with telekinesis) also becomes pregnant later in the novel. Jenret is being trained as a Resonant. And throughout Canderis, a group is springing up called the Reapers who have the goal of obliterating all Resonants, or Gleaners from Canderis. There is a woman named Hylan who is very mentally ill and thinks it is her mission to save their planet from Spacers by killing the Resonants, and the Reapers back behind her. She goes from town to town, identifying Resonants, which the Reapers then kill. It is suggested her method of identifying them is because she has slight Resonant tendencies herself. The Resonants flee, afraid for their lives, and Jenret is captured to be used as a hostage when he tries to get them to return. Meanwhile, Doyce is with her mother and crippled sister, blssfully unaware that her fiance's life is in danger. Swan is at death's door, and all the Seekers are afraid for her. Bard, still recovering from Byrta's death, removes his tabard and he and M'wa set off to find Lindy, the girl who saved Byrta in Finders-Seekers. And Mahafny discovers a machine that can truly expose Resonants-- unwillingly."
