| Plot Summary of Zarathustra |
"The philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche, at the height of his writing career meets and falls in love with the young and intriguing Lou von Salome. Together with his friend, Dr. Paul Ree, the three plan to start a philosophical salon in Paris. They travel together North from Rome. However, Nietzsche, the one-time friend and confidante of the famous Richard Wagner, is unable to deal with Lou's ambitious nature and Paul's personal betrayal. The result is a human tragedy for Nietzsche who nevertheless heeds his own philosophy of will and goes on to create his most famous work, Thus Spake Zarathustra, while Lou ultimately finds that after breaking off with Nietzsche, she has merely wasted her time in idle pursuits that she realizes will lead her nowhere.
