Plot Summary of The Whole of the Moon
"The main character in this novel is Kirk Mead - a wannna be rollerblade champion whose sporting ambitions are crushed when he is diagnosed with cancer. Kirk enters the New Zealand hospital and meets other sick teens who slowly make his old friends appear irrelevant. The battle for life continues in the hospital ward and some die. Kirk, not a likable character in my opinion, develops some good characteristics throughout the novel. It is a good read for young adults faced with a friend/relative who has cancer."
