| Plot Summary of When Character Was King |
"An insightful, moving, and inspirational story of Ronald "Dutch" Reagan's humble beginnings in Midwestern America, to his acting career in Hollywood, his governorship of California, to his successful multiple terms as President of the United States of America, to his battle with Alzheimers. Noonan, one of President Reagan's former speechwriters, hasn't always been a fan of Reagan but through Clinton's terms and George W. Bush's first moments in office, she has rethought and researched Reagan's life and impact on America and America's destiny as a leader in the world. I did not expect to enjoy this book or to be swayed by Noonan's descrption of Reagan's life and choices but this book encouraged me that the leaders of the United States may have more integrity and courage than we believe."
