| Plot Summary of Deliver Us From Love |
"In this delightfully sophisticated collection of essays, a Danish journalist and feminist constructs elegant, logical arguments that lead to outrageous conclusions: to wit, that monogamy, the family, and children should be abolished; and that males should be barred from higher education, at least for a while. This is all somewhat tongue-in-cheek, of course, but the author raises important points along the way. There are also a hair-raising discussion of rape, and a lovely description of a visit to the public baths in pre-revolutionary Iran. Brogger has published a half dozen books since this, her first, including detective novels, but I don't believe any of them has been translated. This one, translated by Thomas Teal, is very hard to find, but well worth it.
