"Jaryd always knew there was something... different about him. He sometimes had nightmares while he slept, nightmares that seemed so real that he would often wake up shaking and bathed in sweat - nightmares that would come true. When Jaryd's mysterious uncle Baden comes to visit, Jaryd will find his life changed forever. Baden invites Jaryd to join Tobyn Ser's Order of Amarid, an order of mages sworn to protect the land and its occupants. Jaryd joins Baden as Baden's Mage-Attend to the Order's annual mid-summer gathering.
At the gathering, a new danger sparks heated debates. Strangers from another land have invaded Tobyn Ser and are attacking villages across the land.
