Plot Summary of Blood and Rubles
"Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, Inspector Porfiry Rostnikov and his police crew find that
crime has erupted, from small time hooligans to big time, organized “mafias.” In this
Stuart Kaminsky thriller, the author returns to his familiar literary haunts in “Blood and
Rubles” and he probably was never better, although this series is one of the best. And
again Kaminsky manages to keep the story line alive and kicking with his individual
subplots. Sasha Tkach is investigating a group of thieves who are terrorizing the local
neighborhoods and Elena Timofeyeva is on a hunt to find long-lost Czar treasures.
And Emil Karpo (“The Vampire”) is seeking to find who has killed his lover. It takes
Rostnikov fulltime to work out these problems, which, to his dismay, are only portents of
things to come in this Post Cold War period. This is an absorbing, compelling read!
