"A woman plans a marriage of convenience to escape her father's plans to marry her off before her 21st birthday. Unfortunately, she chooses a man destined for the hangman's noose, but he is able to escape and is practically delivered to her island home, where he has been sold as a bondslave. Despite the odds, he works hard to earn her respect and love. We watch Shanna grow from a self centered child, to a mature young woman under Ruark's careful, nurturing love.
