| Plot Summary of Samantha and the Cowboy |
"Samantha is a sixteen-year-old girl struggling to help her family make a living on their farm shortly after the Civil War. She disguises herself as a boy so she can work on a cattle drive to pay off their debts. She falls in love with a cowboy, Matthew Hart, who is bitter over his experiences in the war. But Matthew thinks Samantha is a boy."
