| Plot Summary of Futuretrack 5 |
"This has to be one of my favourite books and I've read it many times since I was younger. Henry Kitson "Kit" is brilliant at school, that is important because if you succeed at school you become an Est and can expect an easy life but those who fail are taken to becme Unnems. Forced to the lowest jobs and future prospects. But Kit is too good and scores 100% which places him in the little known third career section....the techs. A group that is responsible for keeping everything in society working. After working his way up the ranks Kit becomes apprentice to the first programmer and meets the computer responsible for running the society. But after a razzle in the forbidden zone Kit finds himself falling for a girl from futuretrack 5, the motorcycle racers, the futuretrack with the lowest life expectancy. Kit manages to save his beloved Keri from her life in futuretrack 5 but he uncovers a plot from the controllers of society to kill off all the unnems. Kit decides that he must do something about this but the ony way to succeed is to break back into the tech's compound and blow up the controlling computer."
