| Plot Summary of Peyton Place |
"Two or three sentences isn't really enough because a lot of plot exists in this book, but the main thread revolves around a girl who is raped by her father, becomes pregnant, gets an abortion, accidentally kills her father, and defends herself in court. There are other plot threads that intertwine. Think "Pulp Fiction"."

"The book centers around several small town people. One is an aspiring writer who idiolizes a father she never knew. One is a victim of abuse by her father and neglect by her mother. Throughout the book there are small town themes; rich vs. poor, sex, and small town prejudice. The characters all struggle with defining who they are in a time when the roles of men and women were changing."
