"Beth McKay is a first year teacher in a one room rural school meeting with discipline problems, interfering parents and a retired teacher who wants her fired. She is helped in her struggle by Andy, a handsome young teacher on sabbatical. In addition to fighting against growing opposition to her teaching, the two become romantically involved. "
