Plot Summary of Death of a Script Writer
"Hamish Macbeth (not the "dread Scot" of old) is a Scottish constable who would rather poach salmon than solve crimes, but solve crimes he does, and he's very good at it. This unassuming M.C. Beaton creation is a delight in the police procedural genre. Macbeth's common sense always triumphs! In "Death of a Script Writer," Hamish finds just that--a script writer for a local TV production crew is found dead--amid the usual mysterious circumstances, and it is Hamish's job to find the murderer. The film-in-the-making is by an English spinster who hasn't had all that much luck with her previous novels, but filming the latest one may be just what she needs to revive her sagging popularity. One hitch, however: the producer is now giving the original Victorian-type a good soaking of pure, unadulterated (and modern) sex, much to the shock of the author! Readers of this series will find this episode among the best of the Beaton stories! "
