| Plot Summary of Pandora |
"This installment of Rice's New Tales Of The Vampires begins in the 20th century when we meet Pandora, the ancient vampiress and David Talbot, the newly vampire. David is urging Pandora to write her life story, as one tale of many he hopes to collect from their kind. He persuades her to do it and so we return with her to Rome, in the year 15 B.C. Here we learn about her human life and how she first met the boy Marius. She relates how they become separated by circumstances and how they reunite when she is thirty-five. Of course, by this time, Marius is a vampire. This in no way deters Pandora since she has been in love with Marius since she first met him as a child as he has been in love with her. We are shown how it comes about that she becomes a blood drinker and the turbulent life she shared with Marius for the next two hundred years. She is determined to have the answers. Marius is a cynic of the first order, and this, among other things causes their relationship to be rocky and full of turmoil. Eventually they part ways but they never stop loving one another. "

"Pandora, the main character, becomes a vampire after being made into one by another vampire. She survives attempts on her life and several centuries into the modern era. The novel acts as a fictional biography of Pandora's life."
