Plot Summary of The Lamorna Wink
"When a local woman comes up missing, reported by her frantic nephew, and an unidentified body is found, everyone assumes the worst. In Martha Grimes' latest Superintendent Jury episode, naturally Scotland Yard is called in. This time,
however, Grimes has shipped Jury off on a wild goose chase to North Ireland and longtime friend Melrose Plant takes on the responsibilities (unofficially, of course, as he
is a wealthy, unemployed, member of the peerage, and has no connection to the police other than through his friendship with Jury). In “The Lamorna Wink,” the 15th Richard Jury
novel, Grimes takes us to Devon/Cornwall and she takes along the usual gang of Grimes' “suspects”--Aunt Agatha, Sgt. Wiggins, Marshall Trueblood, Diane Demorney, to name a
few. Grimes is on form with this edition of the popular series, and the conclusion of this mystery does not come without its surprises. She usually springs the “solutions”--which also includes generous servings of Old Peculiar!--in a pub setting (The Lamorna Wink is
an actual pub, as are the titles of all the Jury mysteries). This book is certainly worth a second round of the innkeeper's best!
