| Plot Summary of Conquerors' Pride |
"The first book in the Conquerors' Trilogy, Conquerors' Pride sets up a story with multi-faceted plots. A first contact with an alien race (the Zirrh, or Conquerors) ends in disaster and the son of a wealthy and politically powerful man is captured. The father starts planning a rescue mission, which his other son will lead, and stumbles onto a conspiracy to cover up the biggest secret in the galaxy. An agent of the CommonWealth chases him across the galaxy. Meanwhile, the daughter is marooned on a planet being invaded by the Zirrh, and the human politicians are debating if they should use a doomsday weapon against this new race. As with many Zahn books: it is hard to decide who the main character is; the politics are very realistic, as well as the character development; and there is constant action or political intrigue and some very unique ideas."
