Plot Summary of Fires of Winter
"Viking Garrick Haardrad's father captures Celtic Lady Brenna, a courageous woman with sword skills and a fighting spirit, and some other women in her community in revenge against her countrymen for capturing and beating his son. She is given to Garrick as a slave and treated as such. Garrick on several occasions goes against her wishes to be 'bedded' and this angers her greatly, enough to encite her to try to escape. This failed escape and a betrayal by a woman he thought he loved causes Garrick to disbelieve Brenna when she returns to his home after being kidnapped to tell him what happened, hoping he believes her and accepts her back. He does not and she goes to live on land his father owns with a broken heart. Later, their son is nearly dies when born early but Garrick saves him and his heart is softened towards her. Danger from an unknown person(s) haunts Brenna still, before the birth of her son and after. She is nearly killed several times during the book and at the ending, her son is only saved from being murdered because of the rememberance of her own son in Yarmille's mind-the enemy to Brenna and her son. Also, the truth is found out about Brenna's kidnapping and Garrick marries her-after asking forgiveness, of course."
