Plot Summary of Rising Tides
"This is the second book in the Quinn brothers' trilogy. Ethan was adopted as an adolescent by the Quinns after a horrific childhood, from which he hasn't fully recovered. Because of those events, he doesn't feel worthy of Grace, with whom he's been in love for years. Now, circumstances are such that they come face to face with feeling they each (!) have been avoiding.

Of course, in a continuation from the first book, there is still the question of how Seth came into their family, and if he is really the result of an adulterous relationship of Professor Quinn, as rumors insist."

Ntombi A. Peters, Resident Scholar

"In this continuing saga of Robert's Chesapeake Bay saga, the brothers Cam, Ethan, Philip, and Seth are together as a family unit. They are making their livings on the Chesapeake Bay and its channels. They face hardships, storms, and short seasons. Day after day, year after year, they ply the waters-setting their crab pots and dredging for oysters. In their rubber boots and thick gloves they pilot their workboats through frigid dawns or sweltering afternoons searching for the blue crab the area is famous for.

Ethan Quinn is a waterman. He wasn't born to the tradition, but has embraced it. He's a quiet man with a very dark haunted past who is afraid of loving Grace, the woman in his life who wants him so much and loves him dearly. He never believed he was deserving of Grace's love or her child's love as well, and he searches deep within himself to make peace with his past at long last."
