In Maugham's Razor's Edge, a writer comes upon Isabel, Gary, Elliot and their friend Larry, and discovers lies and lives threaded between them. He also becomes interested in the journey of Larry, a American who is on a quest to discover his meaning in life and comes upon a religious awakening.

Set between WWI and WWII, the story chronicles the adventures of a young American Maugham calls Larry Darrell as he traces a path along a spiritual journey in search of the Absolute. Darrell's odyssey takes him from America to Europe to India. After meeting a venerated Maharshi, one morning high in the mountains of India, he experiences Enlightenment.
