Plot Summary of Of the Sea and Skies: Historic Hampton and Its Times
"This book covers a period of more than 500 years, beginning with the exploratory voyages and expeditions that led to the colonization of Virginia at Jamestown in 1607. The title is from Shakespeare, whose countrymen were the first to establish a permanent community in America. They came from the sea and settled Hampton in 1610 on the site of an ancient Indian village that one day would be the NASA proving grounds for America's first leap into space. What happened in between is placed against a backdrop that puts Hampton and the surrounding area into historical perspective. Hampton survives today as the oldest English-speaking settlement in continuous existence outside the British Isles. Hampton's story is America's story."
