"LILIES THAT FESTER
St. Martin's, Nov 2001, 23.95, 256 pp.
ISBN: 0312284063
It has been two years since Bretta Solomon's husband died and she still misses him very much. He was a police officer who used to discuss his cases with her because he felt she gave him very good ideas on his investigations. Since her beloved past away, Bretta has solved two homicide cases to the chagrin of the local sheriff.
She owns a flower shop that keeps her very busy and belongs to the Show-Me Floral Designers Club who is hosting their first competition in Branson, Missouri. Bretta agrees to chair the event. When she arrives at the hotel, Bretta learns that a Mr. and Mrs. McDuff want to hire her as a private investigator. Before she can meet with them, they are killed. Bretta's friend also dies in what seems like an accident, but Bretta thinks three linked murders have occurred and she plans to prove it.
Anyone who enjoys flowers will love an insider's look at a floral convention. LILIES THAT FESTER is a whimsical amateur sleuth novel that relies on brainpower to figure out the identity of the perpetrator. Janis Harrison writes a very visual novel that enables the reader to picture the characters and the action in the mind's-eye.
