Plot Summary of The Master and Margarita
"This is an astounding feat of imagination involving the entwined plot threads of 1) the activities of the Devil and a young, in-love couple in modern-day (that is to say, 1930s) Moscow, and 2) the anguished decision of Pontius Pilate over whether to execute the prisoner Jesus Christ. (In the end, the two plotlines merge!) A giant, six-foot cat, a midnight party in Hell, the machinations of greedy Muscovites angling for apartment space and status in the local writers guild, and Satan's public magic show figure into the plot. "
David Loftus, Resident Scholar

"The Devil has decided to put in a personal appearance in Moscow, accompanied by a gigantic black cat, a naked girl and two demons, and are intent on wreaking havoc upon the inhabitants of Moscow. "
