| Plot Summary of The Diary of a Freed Mason |
"David W.M. Vaughan, writing around 1985, gives his experience in the Freemason organisation of England from 1960 until he left it the early eighties. He found it to be incompatible with his Christian beliefs and explains here why, giving the relevant life background and his experiences that led him to leave them. He explains some of the rituals, prayers, and teachings of the English craft and how the organisation works and tries to be compatible with other organisations while being a counter-culture of its own. As a 'Lewis' (son of a Mason) he joined the organisation very easily, but leaving took more courage than he anticipated. An enlightening and soberly told story, a good antidote to much of the speculation concerning the Masons."
