| Plot Summary of Whitney, My Love |
"Lady Whitney was sent to France to turn her tomboyish ways into charm and guile of a well bred young member of the haute ton. Returning with designs on the infatuation she left behind, Whitney is shocked to find herself engaged to a man named Clay Westland, who excites her with his kisses and infuriates her with his calm, sure manner. Will her heart remain where it has for so long with Paul or will it go where it rightly belongs... wherever that may be?"

"When Whitney's mother dies her father doesn't know what to do with her. Not to mention that he is not the most loving person to begin with. When she starts to act up he send her to France to live with her Aunt & Uncle who treat her as they daughter that they never had.
The story starts out with her life in France and the pursuit of a husband, though she really has one that she longs for back in England. Suddenly her father summons her back to England, not telling her why.
Whitney is excited as when she left long ago she was just a teenager now she was the belle of many French balls and seasons. But, she never married why? Well she has always pined for a man back in England (Paul) and now she is going to go home to win him.
But, unbeknownst to her father has already "sold" her to another and the marriage contact is not only sealed but he has spent much of the money. But, is the cold Duke really cold, and who is the mysterious new neighbor that seems to be very interested in Whitney?
The Duke of Claymore has seen Whitney in France and desires her. He is living in a neighboring house and acting as a nobleman (not a Duke though) and trying to have Whitney get to know him better, on his terms. But, Whitney is still pursuing Paul, but strangely drawn to the Duke.
How do the Duke and Whitney come together? You will have to read the story to find out the ending.

"Whitney is special. From the first time her Aunt Anne Gilbert meets her at her mother's funeral, she knows Whitney is a "diamond" rather than the simple cameo her father seems to want. Whitney, grown up a bit, sets her sights on Paul Sevarin and stops at almost nothing to get him, to the point that her father finds no other recourse than to send her with her Aunt and Uncle to France to see if they can make any progress with her.
Once in France, Whitney blossoms, away from the small minded country simpletons that she was raised around. Whitney flourishes and is an instant success. Marriage offers float in left and right, but Whitney refuses them all, and puts off all her most ardent suiters, determined to return to her small village and win the heart of her childhood romance. Little does she know that she's caught the eye of another man, one of great power.
Unbeknownst to Whitney, Clayton Westmoreland, the Duke of Claymore pays a visit to her father. During the visit, a price is set for the hand of Martin Stone's daughter in marriage. The deal is made and Clayton decides to set about courting his bride, there's just one problem. Whitney decides, though she is strangely drawn to Clayton, that she hates him.
Chaos ensues, and eventually Whitney discovers the arrangement. "
