Plot Summary of Live And Let Die
"James Bond arrives in America getting red carpet treatment from the CIA. He is pleasantly surprised to learn that his CIA companion on this mission will be his friend Felix Leiter. His mission is to investigate Mr. Big: A member of the Russian Counter-Espionage Agency, SMERSH. He is an American who has risen up to the top of organised crime. James Bond's superior, M, informs him that ancient treasure from the lost hoard of the pirate, Bloody Morgan, are being smuggled into the United States. The culprits , when caught, are always working class people who say they don't know who they are smuggling for. Mr. Big controls his people by use of fear. He encourages the rumour that he is the reincarnated spirit of Baron Samedi, an ancient voodoo God. Felix and Bond agree to visit the bars of Harlem, where they believe his associates congregate.

This will prove one of the most frightening experiences of their careers...

A good thriller, not as good as its predessessor but still with high points. A cringeworthy torture scene and a scary atmosphere are the best aspects of the book. The is a lull in the centre of the book which is not as readable as the beginning or the end. Don't expect this book to be a lot like the film. It is completely different.

WARNING: Contains usage of racially derogative terms. Do not read this book if you are easily offended by racial issues."
